Artist David Hickey
My artwork is eclectic in nature.   From an early age I was drawn to search out natural elements, these in turn often dictated the direction my creativity would move in.
Early in my career I moved to Rhode Island where I developed and directed a gallery whose goal was to teach art to developmentally- delayed adults. Their work was then exhibited alongside more established community- based artists.  During this period, out of necessity I worked in many different mediums. In 2004, I moved back to Ontario to pursue a more independent approach to my artistic endeavors.
Growing up in the Kawarthas, lakes and woodlands have naturally influenced my work.  Many of my pieces reflect the landscape that is so much a part of our Canadian heritage.
In the processing and finishing of my metal work , it's important to me that I present a unique work of art that is recognized for its  hand- worked elements.  Although predominantly a metal artist,  I also paint.  This past May, I had a solo exhibit at the renowned Ethel Curry Gallery in Haliburton,  which featured a blend of my metal work and painting.
My art work is recognized and exhibited throughout Ontario. Over the past five years I've actively supported several non-profit fundraising programs, including both  Camp Kawartha and Cottage Dreams.  Many of my commissioned works come through Gallery exposure and are made to meet the decor needs of a client's home or cottage.

transforms it into a
